I’m so excited to announce that I’m part of an amazing new organisation that will be dedicated to supporting, championing and advocating for women working in and around rugby.
The overall goal of the organisation to help rugby to become a sport where women always feel valued, supported, safe, and respected, and enable women reach their full potential within the sport.
It’s all been set up by the amazing founders Jenny Mitton and Ali Donnelly.
It’s an honour to start to work with these amazing women. Ali is known for her brill work, including Scrumqueens.com.
She is currently the CEO of More than Equal, an organisation dedicated to support women to reach the top of motorsport.
Jenny Mitton is a Managing Partner at M&C Saatchi Sport and Entertainment and has worked in sport for over 15 years.
Jenny works on some of the UK’s biggest women’s sport partnerships including Barclays x Women’s Super League and O2 x Red Roses.
Working alongside the founders, there will be a committee. That’s where I’ll sit, it’s full of brilliant names within rugby.
We need your help
There’s a task for you to do…
We’ve partnered with Leeds Beckett University in order to understand the experiences and motivations of women working in rugby.
Working directly with the Centre for Social Justice in Sport and Society research is being undertaken.
The aim is to gain a deeper understanding of the experiences and motivation of women who work in and around the sport of rugby union. As well as better understand the barriers that women may face, so that they can be supported more effectively.
We want to use the research to understand what members will need and to existing initiatives and projects across the sport which work to support women.
The research findings will also be shared with rugby stakeholders to help them to better support women across the game who are working in or who are engaged in their organisations and clubs and who are helping to run the sport.
So here’s where you all come in
We’re looking for responses to a national survey. It’s open to any women who works in and around rugby union globally (men’s and women’s game), but with a particular focus on England, Scotland and Wales initially.
The national survey is now available to complete here
Please complete the survey if you’re eligible and/or share the survey round so that we can get the maximum amount of responses. The more responses, the more insight we gain into the reality of women within the rugby union workforce.
I have shared this with the two women in leadership positions at our club (one is convener of minirugby - and a player - and the other is director of women's rugby.
Sadly, I keep getting a 404 error
